David Soares is a multilingual, Montréal-based certified translator with over 20 years of professional experience, specializing in French-to-English translation in the fields of renewable energy, the environment, climate change and conservation. As a fourth-generation member of the Ukrainian diaspora, David is currently seeking to partially shift focus to promoting that country’s culture and history, supporting the war effort, and raising awareness of Russian aggression and its genocidal underpinnings. For example, since early 2024 he has volunteered his linguistic services for Chytomo, an independent media outlet covering publishing and contemporary literary and cultural processes in Ukraine.David holds a D.E.S.S. (Diplôme d’études supérieures spécialisées) in translation from Université de Montréal.
