
The Translating Ukraine Summer Institute Program
The Translating Ukraine Summer Institute is organized jointly by the University of Alberta’s Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies (CIUS) and Kule Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS), the Ukrainian Research Institute at Harvard University (HURI), DUSS UAlberta—Disrupted Ukrainian Scholars and Students Initiative, the Harriman Institute at Columbia University, the Yale Ukrainian Program, Cambridge Ukrainian Studies, Kolegium Europy Wschodniej, National Ossolinski Institute, New Eastern Europe, NGO Translatorium, and the Shevchenko Scientific Society in the US.
This summer institute focuses on training emerging and mid-career translators in the field of literary, nonfiction, and academic translation. In the course of an intensive twelve-day program, invited summer institute faculty and experienced practitioners will lead workshops and professional development sessions aimed at developing key skills in Ukrainian-English translation and building a global network of translators who will work on joint projects in the future.
