Sarah D. Phillips is an anthropologist who has studied Ukrainian culture and society for 30 years. Phillips is the author of three monographs: Women's Social Activism in the New Ukraine (Indiana U Press, 2008), Disability and Mobile Citizenship in Postsocialist Ukraine (Indiana U Press, 2010), and Kurt Vonnegut in the USSR (Bloomsbury Academic, 2026).

Her published journal articles about Ukraine cover themes of gender, health, disability, foodways, folk healing, HIV, drug use, and migration.
